The album was released in October of the same year. In June 2012, DeMarco started recording his debut studio album entitled 2. He signed a record deal with Captured Tracks on January 9, 2012. He then moved to Montreal from Vancouver, where he started recording as a solo artist.
The album was released as a part of the indie rock project in 2009 named Makeout Videotape. DeMarco completed his graduation from Strathcona High School in 2008.ĭeMarco was living in Killarney when he released his self-produced album entitled Heat Wave. He had joined several bands during his high schools, such as The Meat Cleavers (an indie rock band), Outdoor Miners (post-punk band), and The Sound of Love (alternative R&B group). At that time, he had already begun playing guitar, learning from his grandmother. He was born in Duncan, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island.
